Dosage & Timing

Kick Start (10 days): Add 1 heaped scoop (approx. 5g) to 250ml of water. Consume with meals, 3 times daily for 10 days. Can also be mixed into honey, smoothies, or alongside another ATP Science product. Heat does not affect the polyphenol structure — it can be added to warm drinks or used in cooking.

Maintenance: 1 scoop (5g) daily with a meal, ongoing.

Why Modbiotics® — and Why That's Different From Probiotics and Prebiotics

ATP Science uses a garden analogy that's genuinely useful here. Probiotics are seeds — they introduce beneficial bacteria, but transient ones that often don't colonise permanently and can cause issues in sensitive individuals (histamine-producing strains, for example). Prebiotics are fertiliser — they feed gut bacteria, but indiscriminately, which can feed harmful species as readily as beneficial ones. Synbiotics combine both but still don't solve the selectivity problem.

Modbiotics® are the gardener. They feed the beneficial species while selectively inhibiting the harmful ones — the selectivity coming from the natural chemical profiles of specific polyphenols, plant fibres and phytocompounds that the patented Modbiotic® blend delivers. These compounds occur naturally in fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds and spices, but modern diets provide them in quantities too low to meaningfully influence the microbiome. GutRight® concentrates them into a daily supplement dose.

What the Clinical Research Shows

ATP Science's proprietary Modbiotic® gut study (2022) tested the blend on human subjects and measured specific microbiome changes. The results:

• 72% average reduction in E. coli — E. coli at elevated levels causes gastrointestinal inflammation and impairs nutrient absorption. Its reduction improves digestive comfort and gut integrity.
• 66% average increase in Bifidobacterium — one of the most beneficial bacterial genera in the human gut, supporting gut lining integrity, immune function, and blood sugar regulation.

Each ingredient contributes specific polyphenols, fibres, or bioactive compounds that make up the Modbiotic® profile. The blend is designed to collectively provide the plant-derived chemical diversity that a genuinely varied whole-food diet would supply — but rarely does in practice.

The Two Protocols

GutRight® Original is used in two phases:

• Kick Start Protocol (10 days): 1 scoop (5g) three times daily with meals for 10 consecutive days. This is the intensive gut reset phase — the concentrated Modbiotic® load actively shifts the microbiome balance. One 150g tub covers exactly this 10-day reset at 3 serves per day.
• Maintenance Protocol: 1 scoop (5g) once daily with a meal, ongoing. After the reset, the daily maintenance dose sustains the improved microbiome balance. At 1 scoop per day, one tub lasts 30 days.

GutRight® Daily (the Raspberry and Chocolate flavoured variants listed on our site) are the follow-on maintenance products — a gentler formulation for long-term daily use once the Kick Start is complete. GutRight® Original has a stronger Modbiotic® concentration and is specifically used for the 10-day reset.
